ADHERE SEAL - PGTwo Part Polysulphide Sealant
ADHERE SEAL - PG - Two part Polysulphide synthetic rubber sealant based oil Thiokol Polysulphide polymer. On curing it forms a durable rubber seal with remarkable resistance to deterioration.

ADHERE SEAL - PG because of its very low coefficient of thermal expansion allows movement of structural members without causing disintegration, at the same time effectively filling the joints against seepage of water as well as ingress of corroding agents into the structure.
ADHERE SEAL - PG provides a lasting seal in most building and civil engineering applications where above average movement is expected. Used to seal joints in floors or other areas where resistance to wear and tear is required.
ADHERE SEAL - PG is effective in expansion joints in mass concrete and similar construction work such as subways, basements, retaining walls, bridges, sea walls, reservoirs, and water retaining structures, curtain walls, expansion joints, infill panels and many specialized glazing situations.
METHODS OF APPLICATION:
All surfaces must be clean, dry, sound and free from laitance, dust oil and any other contamination. Mould release agents, repellents and any other surface treatment of protective coatings must be removed from the joint surface to obtain proper adhesion. Porous surfaces, metal scale and corrosion should be cleaned where necessary by grinding, saw cutting, grit blasting or a combination of these to obtain a clean sound surface. Dust and loose particles must be either brushed or blown out of the joint with oil free compressed air.

ADHERE SEAL - PG is supplied as a single pack. The base and catalyst are together in the same tin and only require mixing before use. This is best achieved by using a slow speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle. Avoid mixing speed greater than 250 rpm as this will generate excessive heat and shorten the application life. During mixing, scrap the sides of the tin with a spatula to avoid pockets of unmixed sealant. Continue to mix until parts are mixed completely. Hand mixing can be adopted for smaller quantities.
The surface of the sealant is tooled with a flat knife or spatula. This will also break any air pockets formed and press the sealant firmly into the corners of the joint. Any masking tape used should be immediately removed from the joint shoulders after tooling.
Approximately 7 days at 20°C. Curing period depends on the ambient temperature.
It is essential that the correct depth of sealant is used and also that the sealant is only bonded to the sides of the joint. To adhesive this and to avoid three-sided adhesion, a backing strip of closed cell polyethylene is recommended. If the joint is not sufficiently deep to take a back stop, a bond breaker such as one sided adhesive polyethylene tape should be used. Do not use masking tape for this purpose.
PAVEMENT AND ROAD JOINTS:
These joint should be filled with a backing material such as fine sand. A bond breaker of an adhesive polyethylene tape should then be applied to the surface of the sand, after which primer and sealant should then be applied into the joint and tooled as normal. Such a system will prevent the breakdown of the joints under heavy traffic.
The designed joint width should not be less than three times the expected movement at th3 time of sealing the joint. In butt joints (tensile movement) the depth of sealant should be the same as the width but never less than 6 mm.

The following may be used as a guide when estimating quantities of ADHERE SEAL-P. Allowance for wastage is to be added to the quantity arrived.

Where Q- Quantity in Kg, L-Length of joint in meters, W= Width of joint in mm & D= Depth of joint in mm. 200 ml of ADHERE SEAL - PG primer will be sufficient for 20 linear meters.
ADHERE SEAL - PG complies with the following specifications: BS 4254 for two-part polysulphide based sealant compounds US. Federal Specifications TT/S/227B and ASA specification A116.1.
ADHERE SEAL - PG should not be applied in joints which have bituminous contamination. Neither should they be applied over oil, solvent containing bulk sealant nor over bitumen impregnated joint fillers. The catalyst contains lead. After contact, thoroughly clean the skin.
